Good day! I recentlt found that the Total Distance showing up on web page is much shorter than the distance recorded in my GPS and in the gpx file. My Garmin GPS device and download gpx file show up 15.4km and Total climbing 1163m, but after upload it to my blog, it becomes 13,76km (I use normal, flat + climb). Could you please tell me why? I can’t remember from which version, but I do remember before it was clear that the Total distance is flat plus climb, longer than the amount showing up on my GPS device. Thank you very much!

Flat distance: 1.6 kmShould be 13.4 + 1.163 = 14.56km right? What is Total real distance: 13.8 km? Why they are so dfferent from my device and gpx file 15.4km? Thanks!

It might be simplified like a triangle every gpx point. But it’s a bit more complex because earth it’s not flat..

I suppose they use easiest algorithm in order to save battery 🙂 I don’t want to think they don’t know measure distance..
I’ve tried endomondo, runkeeper, Nike+ Running and many others android apps and they give all different results!My plugin is open source and everyone can check/edit the algorithm.
I checked many times the code, it might also be slightly inaccurate….but even utrack has the same values.Yes! You right! Really appreciate your replies!!! Thank you very much!!!
